It was another outstanding year for us. It began with me getting my second bionic knee. Luckily I managed to get fit for the start of the season in April down in Cardiff. The city did not disappoint and plenty of you turned out to greet us and the new garden season began in style.
We went straight up to Harrogate and back down to Malvern. We had a special place to go before RHS Chelsea Flower Show officially began - we attended the Queen's Garden Party! What an honour! We didn't think we would ever be nominated but we were and we enjoyed every minute of it. It was especially good to spend time looking around the gardens at Buckingham Palace, very extensive and plenty to view. Remarkably for being in the centre of London it was very quiet and tranquil. Unfortunately not our turn to be introduced personally to any of the Royal party but a privilege not to be missed.
Our time at Chelsea was good except for when two plants were stolen from the display at the end. We met celebrities who attended including Kim Wilde, Richard E Grant, Sue Holderness (Marlene from Only Fools and Horses), Jerry Hall, Naomi Harris, David and Rosemary Bellamy, Anne Swithinbank, Ian Lavender (Pike), Jim Carter (Downton) and the memorable Carrie Fisher (RIP). We spoke with many of the garden designers and even assembled two large bowl gardens for Ann-Marie Powell's garden which was featured quite a lot on the television.
The rest of the season went well although I will try to forget my attempt, when badgered into it, at belly dancing during the Southport show. Our record of top awards continued. This stands now at 8 Chelsea golds, 50 consecutive RHS golds and 107 consecutive golds overall.
A big thank you to all who visited us last year and hope you will visit again. We welcome anyone who comes to see us at the shows and if you purchase from us we always supply written instructions with plants to help you on your journey to look after your gems. You can keep in touch on all mobile devices now and Twitter is streamed live to keep everyone informed on what we are doing. Just to say that during Chelsea week, up until the Friday, we achieved over 221,000 impressions on Twitter and during Gardeners' World Live we reached over 51,500 accounts in just a couple of days!
Thank you for visiting our website and we hope you will continue to follow our adventures.
See you soon! Stan & Vicki
